Review: Chanel Illusion D’Ombre Illusoire

Since I have a habit of gifting things to myself, I decided it was time to step it up. I decided to get one of the Chanel Illusion D’Ombres in #83 Illusoire. I’m just going to let the pictures speak for themselves, I also included a very light swatch seeing that this shadow runs for $36.
I think it’s more of a silver lilac than the purple others have described it as. It has obvious shimmer/micro-glitter that does not have any fallout. It is very wearable and surprisingly workplace appropriate as it’s not disco ball glitter. It lasted 9 plus hours without any creasing over Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray primer. Once dry, if you touch it you will have the glitter on your fingers leaving the color behind. It has a firm mousse consistency. I’m pleased with this shadow and will be purchasing Epatant soon.

Urban Decay Roller Girl Polish Collection Review & Swatches

Urban Decay Roller Girl Nail Polish Collection purchased on sale for $8 (regular price $28).
first off I in my right mind would never pay full price for this or any other UD nail polish set. It is known that UD does not routinely make nail polish and when they do, it’s no more than twice a year, so I can understand the price. But on the other hand I am cheap and want a lot for each dollar I spend (depending on product). You can see why here in a previous post for price and size comparison, they are tiny BUT of good quality and the shades are gorgeous.

The Star of the Collection
Superfreak, she’s a superfreak….OMG this is a freakishly gorgeous bottle of liquid gold. I love this polish, if I could wear only a handful of polishes for the rest of my life this would be one of them. You only need two coats and your good to go.

Natural light a gorgeous bright pink, I loved this one too and it has quickly become one of my favorite pinks.
Miss T (shimmer frost), Love Train (frost), Xanadu (glitter) and Fame (shimmer frost)
These latter ones are a bit more sheer and may require up to three coats, but they are pretty none the less. Xanadu would look prettier over a black base and lovers of neutral, nude shades would love Love Train and Fame.

Overall I give this collection 4/5, it’s a good quality product from a company that rarely releases polishes.
Would I purchase more – yes but on when on sale for $8 maybe $10.

I have a review coming up for the Summer of Love collection, I’m waiting on some nail wheels that I ordered from ebay so I can review polishes quicker.

A little secret about how much I love nail polish, I am 8 bottles away from having a collection of 200.

Sephora F&F Haul Pt.2

For the second small haul, I got the Benefit Ready, Set, Stay set (retail price $26), the Dior Instant Eye Makeup Remover, I got a deluxe sample from Sephora and fell in love (retails $28), check out my first impressions here. Although this is very pricey, I love it and think it’s totally worth the price. It’s so gently, removes everything so I don’t have to tug on my lids too  much. Finally, another MUFE Aqua Cream #12 Golden Copper, I have fallen for these (retails $22), so much so that I may get a couple more. I didn’t get the samples I had selected but I’m so happy with these, I love the Jennifer Aniston perfume!!!

Benefit value set (regular price $26). I love Stay Don’t Stray primer so much that I bought the full size (had a deluxe sample that I’ve used up). It retails for $26, but if you can get it in a set with two additional products for the same price then why not. It came with Erase Paste in medium (I’m gifting that to someone) and a creaseless shadow in Birthday Suit. I really like Benefit’s cream shadows  and had one before in R.S.V.P which I use very frequently. Sephora has a couple more value sets that have these cream shadows in them.

L to R: MUFE #12 Golden Copper and Benefit’s Birthday Suit (I know it looks similar to MUFE# 15 in my previous haul but they are different).
Well that’s it for this year’s Friends and Family sale. I’ll definitely be getting a backup of the Dior eye makeup remover (hopefully with a coupon, gift card or some other sale).

What did you get from the F&F sale?

MAC Imaginary Review & EOTD

MAC Imaginary Paint Pot
A whole lot of gorgeousness from one of MAC’s latest collections. It’s a royal blue frosted with purple, blue and red shimmer particles. It is a frost finish that glides on like butter and dries within a couple of seconds. One think I noticed with this paint pot is that when it dries, it does not budge. I actually fell asleep with the the swatch below and when I woke up it was still there. It did not move, rub off or fade. I thought that was amazing.

The EOTD: Benefit Stay Don’t Stray e/s primer, WnW purple cream liner, MAC Imaginary Paint Pot, Stila’s Illimani (above the crease) & Pewter (crease) e/s, Lancome’s Hypnose Drama & Maybelline’s Falsies mascaras.

Review: My Beauty Addition Mineral Eyeshadows

“MBA eyeshadows are extremely pigmented, vibrant and intense. Our shadows have been formulated with premium base ingredients that will give excellent adhesion and all day wear. A little of our eyeshadows goes a long way.
General ingredients: mica, titanium dioxide, magnesium stearate, may contain iron oxide, tin oxide, ultramarines, carmine, ferric ferrocyanide, boron nitride, chromium green oxide” mba
Shamrock and Merlot
Sugar Plum and Slipper
This was from a BOGO Free sale last year

The following were purchased when they were selling 10 samples for $5, now they have 5 sample jars for $7.50 and on the website they mention that the sample jars come half full. Amazing!!!
 Peach Frost and Evocative
Topaz, Pinkberry and Honey
 Amethyst and Tease
Twisted, Navy and Passion
The camera does not do NAVY any justice, it is gorgeous. Personally I think it looks more like a super deep, rich teal that is more blue than green.
My growing MBA family 🙂

Review: My Beauty Addiction- Molten Metals Collection

I am a big fan of My Beauty Addiction (MBA). I was browsing Etsy last year and came across this store and have been purchased a few shadow samples. I only own four full size shadows (from a special they had). Personally the best thing about this store is not only the wide range of gorgeous shadows but the samples. You can purchase samples of any shadow you want and they come in little baggies. You’ll be surprised at the amount you get (very generous samples).

“Advanced Natural Based Skin Care & Premium Quality Mineral Makeup & Bath and Body Products Beautiful, youthful skin begins with quality skin care products. Our products are made with superb quality, effective active ingredients. We choose only the best formulations, to give you products that are healthy for your skin. Our formulas bring you advanced skincare in healthy and natural ways.” My Beauty Addiction

I recently ordered the Molten Metals SAMPLER for $7.50 + $2.50 shipping – this collection includes eight gorgeous colors which are made from  bronze, zinc and copper powders and blended with silica. The eyeshadows are very pigmented and finely milled for a super smooth and silky texture and application.

Whenever I purchase MBA samples I put them in Coastal Scents 5g jars (I don’t like to keep the bags) and then I put a sifter on and reuse the labels. You get a lot for a sample, these jars are almost full 🙂 They are very pigmented, easy to apply, very metallic, smooth.

Top row (left to right)

Umber is a super saturated deep red brown
Smolder is a deep rich super saturated burgandy/wine
Gold Olive is a super saturated gold with an olive green undertone
Milk Chocolate is a super saturated metallic bronze/brown

Bottom row (left to right)
Rust is a super saturated warm brown with copper undertones
Burnished is a super saturated color with a deep gold hue
Aged Gold is a super saturated brilliant gold

Coppermine is a rich, super saturated metallic copper red

Seriously how gorgeous are these shadows, OMG!!! all my looks next week will be based on this collection. I want all these eyeshadows 🙂

I another post I’ll swatch and review the other MBA shadows I have, love those too.

EOTD 6.20.11:Browns

This week I decided to revisit those shadows that I haven’t used in a long time. I love brown neutral looks so went with all browns today.

Can you believe this was after a 12 hour day?
I’m amazed (only one little blemish because my finger touched it) since the rest of my face is a hot mess of oil. The shadows are below and in addition to them I used UDPP, MAC’s Painterly, Incolor’s FabuLiner in Brown, Loreal Voluminous Mascara in Black and Maybelline’s Falsies Mascara in Black.

I used all four colors in the Body Shop’s Shimmer Cubes #06 (got this last year for $30 when they had a FaceBook Face Book Special last September); Marshmallow, Honeeycomb, Dark Chocolate and Chocolate Chip. I used Revlon’s Sable in the crease/outer edge and Body Shop’s #10 to highlight.

BS Shimmer cube #6 swatches. This was a limited edition product but I think over all The Body Shop’s shimmer cubes are very hard to find, 95% of the time they are not even in stores. I have two others which I’ll do looks with this week.

Sable and #10

EOTW – Sephora Color Diary

This week my eye looks will come from the new Sephora Color Diary ($25). The individual shadows, blushes, and glosses do not have names only the palettes. I used a different camera and attempted to swatch, over time I’ll get better at the whole swatching game (I forgot to use a base/primer). The palettes are a mixture of shimmer and matte colors
‘Relax and Unplug’

A neutral palette starting with the gloss first at the top followed by the blush. The shadows start from the bottom and correspond with the shadows clockwise. I’ll get better I promise, but in the real life they are way more pigmented.
“Must Get New Shoes”

(my arm is not this huge don’t be scared) This one consists of purples, greys and browns and a sheer burgundy gloss.
 “Meditation Retreat”

Gorgeous greens and browns/copper and a brown gloss with glitter.
“Hot date @ 8”

Black, browns, white and a very pigmented red gloss it didn’t look this pigmented when I applied it to my lips.
 Day at the Museum”

Speaks for itself red, white and blue in addition to a matte black and yellow. The blush is matte as well and the gloss clear.

I’ll use one palette each day and come up with fun looks. I think this is great value for the money basically $5 per palette with gloss and blush included.

Last week I did looks from the Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer Palette. I was going to give this away but decided to give it a second chance and now I’m keeping it. The colors I used are outlined and I used Cover Girl LashBlast mascara and various pencil, gel and cream liners.

Rock On!!!!

My Rock & Republic order came in today!!!! except All Nighter (I got that earlier from Beauty Ticket but I wanted it to be with the others). So many pretty blushes and a pressed powder (which is pretty too). Please enjoy the pics, I did 🙂

In it’s packaging

All I got from the 50% sale R&R had last week.

So pretty 🙂  Seduce, Lust, Shameless, X-rated (Rock&Republic)
and All Nighter (Beauty Ticket)
Pressed powder in Angora (Rock&Republic)
Confession I ordered another pressed powder tonight in Velvet (the sale is still on). It was justified, I submitted the final draft for one of my dissertation chapters so I deserved something nice 🙂

My thoughts:
Overall – very good quality, finely milled and very soft though pigmented

X-Rated is a very pink matte blush and when swatched, it came off pigmented on my finger but sheer when I applied it to my hand. A couple strokes with a blush brush should do the job.

All Nighter is a deep peach shimmer blush, very pigmented.

Shameless, Lust and Seduce – very pigmented, shimmery, I don’t know how to exactly describe these colors.

Angora – matte face powder, second darkest color, it’s a wee bit lighter than MACs Deep Dark MSF maybe closer to Dark.

I hope you beauty babes enjoyed this, hopefully I can get the others the next time they have a sale. Oh before I forget their customer service is really nice, I emailed wanting to know who sang the song they use on their site. I love this song and one day I found myself listening to it for an hour, it’s very hypnotic, “Crystalized” by XX  check out the site and let me know if you like the song too.

Until next time…..but time; Sephora FF haul, Juice Beauty review or Body Shop Tea Tree review.

Update 10.29.10
Earlier this week I happen to check the site and saw that they had one Immoral left (they have restocked now) so I got it along with the press powder Velvet.
Immoral blush and Velvet pressed powder
Immoral– a very bright matte coral-orangey blush in real life, very soft and pigmented I love it 🙂

Velvet– so soft and finely milled pressed powder, a shade darker than Angora and I love this so much that I think I have to stock up before this sale is over or the next one. This is a bit darker thank MAC MSF Deep dark and it blends in so well with my skin tone 🙂
Thanks for reading 🙂

Update 11.6.10
Foreplay and Bedroom I bought these last week after a brief restocking at R&R
I swear these are the last two I promise (well if they restock I’m going to get the three that I don’t have). I didn’t get Call Me (I heard it was discontinued), Kinky (I thought it was too pink) and and Tease.

Some not so good swatches.
