August Favorite – My Blush Palettes {Shopping My Stash}

IMG_20150905_214426

I enjoyed all my Tarte, La Femme and Coastal Scents blushes in the month of August. I think these new MAC palettes are the best on the market and great value for money. Eight dollars per palette and although it is not magnetic that can be easily solved by using stick on magnets from Walmart, ebay, Amazon or Michaels.

I depotted all my Tarte blushes except one from a palette. Tarte blushes are super easy to depot, pigmented and long lasting. All one needs is a pin. The La Femme blushes are another great value for money, roughly $3.50/blush. These blushes have been extensively reviewed and are super pigmented. The Coastal Scents palette is the largest pre-made palette I own.

I LOVE BLUSH!!!!!!!!!!!

Sephora + Pantone Universe ‘Color of the Year’ – Marsala [review & swatches]

I’ve had this post in my draft folder since March and I figured it was time to post it. This is the second year that I picked up the Color of the Year blush/highlighter palette. This year Sephora and Pantone teamed up and released ‘Marsala’. Marsala is described as  “A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls”.  Marsala is an absolutely gorgeous color for a blush. Sephora has curated a collection of ‘Marsala’ inspired/themed products which is still up online here

Marsala Cheek trio: Spanish Villa (2.9g), Coral Pink (2.9g) and Marsala (4.8g).

Once again another gorgeous palette. You can see my thoughts on last year’s Radiant Orchid palette. The blush and luminizers are very finely milled and a little goes a very long way. I think Marsala is perfect for every skin tone, anytime of the year. As with last year’s release this palette should be used with a delicate hand  as only the slightest tap of the brush is needed. It lasts 8+ hours, it applies smoothly and is very blendable. This year’s palette only has one repeat highlighter “Spanish Villa’. I really wished they had not repeated this shade and actually made an effort to be unique.  Unfortunately, this palette was limited edition and is no longer available but retailed for $26. I can’t wait to see that next year’s color will be.

Coastal Scents Revealed 2 – Review & Swatches

The Coastal Scents REVEALED 2 eyeshadow palette contains 20 highly pigmented shadows. It is a bit richer and warmer than the original REVEALED palette (reviewed here). Unlike the first, R2 has more rose and pink tones shades with a good mix of mattes and shimmers. The quality is just as good, smooth, blendable. pigmented except for one (row 1, shade 4) which was a bit chunky and hard to swatch and pick up with a brush. I swatched the shadows with and without flash. Each palette retails for $19.95 and could be less (they have sales a few times a year).

Coastal Scents “Revealed 3” has been Unveiled

pl-038-angle

Coastal Scents revealed their third ‘neutral’ palette yesterday (03.06.15). The REVEAL3D is said to be the a combo of REVEALED 1 & 2.  I have the first two and most likely will purchase this one to complete my collection. At least until they come out with the next one. I have used these more than my NAKED 1 palette from Urban Decay and technically all three Revealed Palettes combined cost the same a just one of the Naked palettes. The shadows are of comparable quality both in longevity and blendability. R1 is similar and can be duped for N1 and the same for R2 for N2. R3 seems to have a bit more color than the previous 2, it has more purple and yellow based shadows.
I have previously reviewed and swatched R1 here and may do the same for R2 in the coming weeks and follow up with 3 later.

Makeup By One Direction 4+1 Eye shadow palette – review & swatches

20140804_003302-1 20140804_003319-1

The first shadow is a satin matte sand color.

“Save You Tonight” – a shimmering turquoise blue. Although this shadow is soft and  smooth it took a few swipes to get the payoff seen below.

“Gotta be You” – a silvery taupe with a shimmer finish. Gorgeous for everyday[neutral]  looks.

“Another World” –  a Royal Blue. The glitter sits right on top and

“Up All Night” – a sapphire glitter cream (the middle shade). Not the best, its very patchy and the glitter clumps. Also there is no color payoff.

Overall this is a decent palette.

TARTE Rainforest After Dark Colored Clay Eye & Cheek Palette – Review & Swatches

20140705_144036-1 20140705_144101-1

This limited edition palette has been inspired by the rain forest’s deep orchid hues at dusk. Infused with colored clay, which naturally color-corrects as it supports oil control and specifically addresses individual skin & complexion concerns.
Color Clays: rose – soothes skin around the eye area makeup provides longer wear and truer color payoff, vanilla – helps control oil to keep pigment in place, gold – maintains gentle skin balance and moisture. Tarte’s innovative technologies is sourced from the Brazil and glides on and delivers rich color—without settling into fine lines and wrinkles.

From left to right: Champagne (highlighter), Park Ave Princess (bronzer) & Unleashed (blush).
The highlighter is very pretty and can work as a shadow too. The bronzer a lot lighter and way more matte than the one I already have and its online description of a highly pearled light yellow gold. It will work perfectly as a transitional crease color. The blush is described as a nude rose. This was a very hard to swatch and does not seem pigmented.

20140705_144712-1

The shadows from left to right: Bare to Explore (pink beige – a bit difficult to pick up the color), Make a Mauve (plum mauve – not seeing this color on my skin tone), Plum Away With Me (dark plum- very smooth and pigmented), Up to No Gold (gold – also well pigmented and very blendable), Tan-gled Up in You (tan), Don’t Turn A-Brown (dark brown – also difficult to swatch but is a nice multi purpose color).

Overall I am quite please with this palette and rewarded myself with it after purging quite a bit of un-used makeup from my collection.

Coastal Scents “REVEALED” Review & Swatches

I finally got REVEALED!!!!!

I am so happy that I finally got my hands on this new palette from Coastal Scents and I must say I am impressed. I did not buy a lot of makeup in 2013 especially eyeshadows. I did indulge on blushes (updated collection to come soon). This 20 shadow palette retails for $19.95 but can be had for less during one of CS regular sales. The shadows are very soft and blendable. The palette itself is thin, sleek,  lightweight, made of sturdy paper (very environmentally friendly), has a magnetic closure which makes it great for travel.

20140203_192541-1Top row # 1-5: has three matte and two shimmer/satin shadows

20140203_192829-1Top Row #6-10; one matte and four shimmer/satins

20140203_193314-1Bottom Row: #1-5: all shimmer/satins

20140203_193702-1Bottom Row #6 – 10: 4 shimmer/satins and one matte (this black at the end is one of the softest most pigmented I’ve seen in any palette to date.

Overall I would give this a 4.75/5 (I wish the palette had a mirror).

ELF 80 Piece Day To Night Palette – Review & Swatches

The E.L.F 80 piece Day to Night Palette is a double stacked eyeshadow palette consisting of well pigmented mostly neutral shades with pops of blues, greens and purples. I got this for $5 (E.L.F always has awesome sales). With more than 60% of the palette is neutral shades that are perfect for daytime looks especially perfect for the work place or those who are more conservative. The Night aspect of the palette comes from the colors, one can use these darker colors to smoke out the neutral looks.
The palette itself is a bit heavy for its size, it may not be best for your everyday makeup bag but great for travel. The plastic is matte in finish and very sturdy. The palette has a full length mirror. I swatched a few of the shadows as shown below and they are soft and very pigmented. The palette normally retails for $25 and is limited edition.

Coastal Scents Newly REVEALED Natural Palette

Feast your eyes on the latest palette in the world of neutrals. Coastal Scents has just released their version of I’m going to say it the ‘NAKED’ palettes. They present RELEAVED Expose your natural beauty with this exquisite collection of nude and metallic hues. These smooth, powdered shadows blend seamlessly to create an array of day or evening looks. The slim palette holds all twenty shadows, allowing for easy on-the-go application.”
The offer more or less a mix of both N1 and N2 (20 shades) for only $19.95 (one fifth of the price). This is a steal given a naked palette is now $52. Therefore $19.95 compared to $104. I hope someone gets one soon so I can see some swatches and comparisons.
