My collection of ‘potted’ eyeshadows includes cream and pressed shadows. I love these L’Oreal Infallible shadows, Maybelline Color Tattoos, Estee Lauder Doublewears, Makeup Forever Aqua creams, a Chanel, Armani Eyes To Kill, MAC paint pots, Smashbox 15hr-wear shadow.
Another goodie from my Australia swap – Australis Paparazzi Perfect HD Eyeshadow in Snap Attack
Although this palette is very shimmery it actually creates very wearable ‘work appropriate’ looks. Here is just one combo that I do. This look has a little bit of all five shadows, over TFSI and MAC Painterly paintpot, finished off with Marbella eyeliner (from one of the MyGlam bags) and Lancome Doll Lashes.
Here a swatches of the individual shadows.
They are shimmery/frosty, soft and blends easily.
Scored these in a blog sale.
I’ve worn this paintpot and I love it!!!!! It’s a very pretty light aqua blue/green. Serves as a grey base for either soft pastel green or blue eyeshadows.
A little collective haul from February.

And the winner is……. the Cream EyeShadow
Before fall I only had two small pots and by the end of the year, well see below. I absolutely love them, I never really gotten the hype but after trying a couple different ones I am a believer. They can be used as bases for other shadows – both cream and powder, alone, or as eyeliner. I honestly have enough and will purchase one or two here or there, e.g. I won’t buy all of the new Maybelline cream shadows (I only like one) or every single aqua cream or paint pot. Honorable mention should be given to NYX eye pencils
Benefit: Flash, RSVP, Starstruck (Smashbox)
Airbrush, Static, Foiled, Birthday Suit
I got these mini versions as part of sets I bought at Sephora.
MUFE Aqua Creams: #12 (Golden Copper), #15 (Taupe), #17
MAC Paint Points
See you in the next post!!!
I’ve become addicted to Paintpots and cream eyeshadows in the last two months. This was the only item I got from the MACs Glitter and Ice Holiday Collection. For some reason this shade comes off as silver on my skin and as such much of what I put over it has a silverish look to it. It’s still pretty. Below is the usual look I do using Morning Frost. It’s a lovely champange frost with subtle microglitter and it’s even workplace appropriate.
Primer- Benefit Stay Don’t Stray
Base- MAC Morning Frost Paint Pot
Shadow- Stila Beach Collection #1
Eyeliner- MUFE Brow Enhancer #4
Mascara – Rimmel Sexy Curves
I really dislike this Stila palette so much (already gifted to someone who may love it), I’ve tried to work with it in many different ways and over many different bases but the colors all blend into a single taupe color (I love taupe but these colors do not stand out on their own not even the green).
MAC Imaginary Paint Pot
A whole lot of gorgeousness from one of MAC’s latest collections. It’s a royal blue frosted with purple, blue and red shimmer particles. It is a frost finish that glides on like butter and dries within a couple of seconds. One think I noticed with this paint pot is that when it dries, it does not budge. I actually fell asleep with the the swatch below and when I woke up it was still there. It did not move, rub off or fade. I thought that was amazing.
The EOTD: Benefit Stay Don’t Stray e/s primer, WnW purple cream liner, MAC Imaginary Paint Pot, Stila’s Illimani (above the crease) & Pewter (crease) e/s, Lancome’s Hypnose Drama & Maybelline’s Falsies mascaras.
MAC Idyllic Paint Pot
Another paint pot from the Posh Paradise Collection .Idyllic sold out at MAC.com a couple days after Genuine Treasure and has not been restocked since. I suddenly wanted it and searched everywhere including Ebay (the prices were too high). It had sold out at Nordstrom but they were able to restock it and were (still are) offering free shipping, so I got it.
It is a gorgeous burnt red in the pot (the primary reason I got it) but when swatched on my skin tone was more burgundy. It’s completely different from what’s in the pot and like Imaginary did not budge, fade or rub off when I went to bed with it still on my hand.
EOTD: UDPP, MAC Genuine Treasure & Idyllic paint pots, Estee Lauder Copper Penny e/s in the crease, WnW black cream liner, volumizing mascara Clinique and Loreal voluminous mascara.
Although I am a fan of MAC I’m not crazy about MAC. I don’t buy everything from every collection but once in a while I’pick something up that catches my eye. I recently got two paint pots from the Posh Paradise Collection; Genuine Treasure and Imaginary (from the many swatches and reviews these two are the most unique.
Genuine treasure has a clear base with soft antiqued/patina like gold glitter. I’m not sure I’d even call it glitter as it is not junky or gritty. It reminds me of the particles in Sally Hansen’s Hidden Treasure. I looks gritty in the pot because it jam packed in there, but swiped it lays down pretty well.
I applied GT over NYX’s Iced Mocha, a similar shade to create the look below. I found that it applied best with a Loreal HIP pigment brush vs using one’s finger (which is good to add GT to the finished look. I’ve done a couple of looks with GT and found that it may reflect the color of the base. It does not show up as the traditional paint pots do, so a base is needed. This is perfect for those who aren’t fans of glitter but like the idea of glitter.
I plan to do a look once a week with GT over different bases.
