Le Metier De Beaute Blushes – review & swatches

Early last December I got an email about a beauty clearance sale at Saks Fifth Ave (online). While browsing I saw that LMDB had 1 blush, a few shadows and lipsticks was on sale for 50%. I found out later through blog browsing that they plan to relaunch these products sometime in 2014. I also went to my go to swatch sources to see how these looked on darker skin tones. I actually got 1 blush (Rumor) and 1 eyeshadow (Tuscan Sunset). Each retails for $30 ($15 each with the sale). The blushes and shadows are the same price, weight, and size.
L to R: Rumor and Tuscan Sunset
Rumor is at best a deep burnt burgundy blush which comes off as a much deeper version of NYX Desert Rose, while Tuscan Sunset is very close to rose gold. The latter is very similar to Sleek MakeUPs Rosegold and MACs Stereorose (with less gold shimmer). Both the blush and shadow/blush are soft and very finely milled but is not powdery.

The Body Shop Shimmer Cube #22 – review & swatches

During The Body Shop’s Black Friday sale (buy 3 for $30 and everything else is $10) I came across a new shimmer cube. I have been waiting all year for a new one and I almost missed it. If you like, no love green eyeshadow this palette is for you. Last year, I begun swatching some of my shimmer cubes see #7, #17, #18, #19 and #24. I now have 10 palettes in my little collection. I am a huge fan and collector.
Shimmer cubes retail for $22 but it’s always best to buy them during one of the TBSs many sales. Overall, the colors are gorgeous, the pigmentation outstanding, can be used wet (with a brush) or dry (with the fingers). The darkest colors also double as eyeliner (use with a thin angle brush).

L to R: pure turquoise, mint green, silver grey (a green based taupe) & forest green. Note this is only one swipe of each shadow, super pigmentation.

Why I LOVE Perfume

For the life of me cannot remember where I got this from but I copied it from either another blog or Pinterest and wanted to share it. I have a very strong feeling it was from a Pinterest board and the link to the actual site was broken.
If you have been following my blog for awhile now you know my love for perfume. I love it and I have almost 40 full size bottles in addition to sample vials, travel sprays/rollerballs.
The quotes below pretty much sum up how I feel. I love perfume and I don’t think you can ever have too many bottles, seeing as there are 365 days in the year. Each day presents a new possibility to escape on a scent journey, evoke and create new memories.

A woman’s perfume tells more about her than her handwriting.

Perfume is all encompassing and magical.  How incredible to think that this invisible cloak can wrap itself around us, unlock our emotions and hold us spellbound with the stories it unfolds.
