Current Night-time Skincare Routine

I am a huge fan of exploring skincare either by skin type, ethnicity or geographical region. I typically incorporate Asian skincare products into my routine with Western one. My favorite Asian skin care products are sheet masks, ampules/serum/essences. The latter three are very different and has its own properties and benefits but are more or less are in the same family of products. Over the last few years, I have been paying more attention to my skin and the type of products that I am using. If a product is good i.e. great effective ingredients, reputable manufacturers/companies, believable honest reviews etc., and maybe a bit pricey. I will purchase it, if it is worth it.  My favorites in this line up are the cleanser, facial oil, toner and eye gel.

June Highlights

I can’t believe June is already over!!!! Here a just a few of the things I got over the month (I got some of the new L’Oreal summer shadows but I can’t find the pics). This month, I mainly tried to use makeup that I already had but couldn’t resist the Lily Cole cubes or some L’Oreal shadows and of course I bought way too much nail polish. My nail polish hauling included Sally Hansen (below), Barielle (below), Milani (here) and Deborah   Lippmann (swatches in a July post).

From the CVS Sale – scored these with coupons and sale for $9.00. I finally got Sally Hansen’s Gray by Gray 🙂

Scored the latest The Body Shop treat LE Lily Cole Shimmer Cubes for $1.45 see my review and two looks here, here, & here 🙂

 Estee Lauder Smokey Twilight

Then from my Coastal Scents 88 Metal  palette a
light and dark pink to complete this awesome look.

Favorite Product of 2011

And the winner is……. the Cream EyeShadow

Before fall I only had two small pots and by the end of the year, well see below. I absolutely love them, I never really gotten the hype but after trying a couple different ones I am a believer. They can be used as bases for other shadows – both cream and powder, alone, or as eyeliner. I honestly have enough and will purchase one or two here or there, e.g. I won’t buy all of the new Maybelline cream shadows (I only like one) or every single aqua cream or paint pot. Honorable mention should be given to NYX eye pencils

Benefit: Flash, RSVP, Starstruck (Smashbox)
Airbrush, Static, Foiled, Birthday Suit
I got these mini versions as part of sets I bought at Sephora.

MUFE Aqua Creams: #12 (Golden Copper), #15 (Taupe), #17

See you in the next post!!!

Review: Estee Lauder Double Wear Cream Shadows

Lovely gold… a week ago Estee Lauder was offering free shipping and gift wrapping with any online purchase. I love the gold embossed tissue paper (only down side is that the gold transfers if you rub it). Anyway, I recently purchased two of their DoubleWear Shadow Creams (I am officially obsessed with cream eye products) in Precious Jade and Smokey Twilight.
Precious Jade is a moss green shadow with gold shimmer, while Smokey Twilight is a dark blue grey shimmer (online this appears as a true navy blue, which was why I got it, it is far from navy). The jade was true to the online photo. Each shadow retails for $17.50 for 5g (the same price and quantity of a MAC paint pot).
I wore Precious Jade and the wear time is okay lasted for the 8hrs I had it on. The only thing is that for some reason I wanted the green to be more vibrant. The shimmer is not micro glitter, so there is no fallout and as paint pots or the MUFE aqua creams you’ll have to work fast before it sets.
Would I repurchase – only if they had a really knock out shade but over all I am pleased with my purchase as I am with any other Estee Lauder product.

MAC Idyllic Review & EOTD

MAC Idyllic Paint Pot
Another paint pot from the Posh Paradise Collection .Idyllic sold out at MAC.com a couple days after Genuine Treasure and has not been restocked since. I suddenly wanted it and searched everywhere including Ebay (the prices were too high). It had sold out at Nordstrom but they were able to restock it and were (still are) offering free shipping, so I got it.
It is a gorgeous burnt red in the pot (the primary reason I got it) but when swatched on my skin tone was more burgundy. It’s completely different from what’s in the pot and like Imaginary did not budge, fade or rub off when I went to bed with it still on my hand.
EOTD: UDPP, MAC Genuine Treasure & Idyllic paint pots, Estee Lauder Copper Penny e/s in the crease, WnW black cream liner, volumizing mascara Clinique and Loreal voluminous mascara.

Lipgloss Addict

I love lip glosses not so much lipsticks but I’ll give anything a try at least once. Here’s a snap shot of what I have, I keep them all in one draw and I use all of them. Like with everything else, I prefer some brands over others. The brand I have the most of is Avon (they had a great sale a few weeks ago so I stocked up) but I don’t like all the finishes, some have glitter that I find too chunky. Chucky glitter is the worst I hate feeling anything when I rub my lips together.

Fav lipgloss brands: Estee Lauder (although they have a slight Playdo smell), Lancome, Sephora (despite of the smell)

Okay brands: ELF candy shop, Avon

Brands I’m on the fence with: Clinique (I like the finish, but I hate the petroleum like smell, when I bought it I asked the lady at the Clinique counter for a gloss that doesn’t smell but she said they all smelled like that 🙁 a waste of $18

As for MAC I’m not a fan of their lip glass products, too much glitter/shimmer       (which I can feel). I have a lip glass (hate), a lip gelee (hate) but the two lipsticks I have (Lady Gaga and On Hold) are okay although I prefer Rimmel’s Moisture Rich Lipsticks. I’ve never tried their Cremesheen Glasses until the “In the Groove” collection.
I bought ‘you’ve got it’ and I’m in love, this may just be my new favorite lip product. It has the slightest shimmer, not too sticky and the finish is amazing. I have to get more!!!!

Online deals and Snow

Being trapped inside by tons of snow is not good. Why? I can’t get any of my goodies they are either still in transit and since the U.P.S is off today they’re not moving or at my parents house (more secure to ship there). But believe me when they get here I will be so happy.

I had a bad experience with my apt office with a Estee Lauder (EL) package, long story short; we have a front desk person and a leasing office, when FedEx, DHL or UPS comes they never leave packages without a signature from a person that works in the office. They can’t enter the building because it’s keyless entry, anyway whoever signed for it left the sticker on my mailbox, I go to collect it and they tell me they don’t have it *^%. They swear it was never dropped off, I even got the electronic signature from UPS and they still lied to me. I had some really good stuff from EL; eyeshadows, glosses and eyeliners with free samples. I was so mad, so I called them and of course they are so nice they replaced everything and I decided to go to the UPS distribution center to pick it up. One of the samples (0.5oz) was one of the best facial moisturizers I have ever used OMG!! I love it, but now it’s finished and I’m really contemplating going back to one of my regular very good moisturizes (Olay, Garnier Fructis) which are way cheaper than a full size jar of this. I have to save up for it ($ 38) but I think it’s worth it and I will purchase it one day.

So being trapped inside and bored I’m online looking for deals (when I should be preparing a manuscript and designing experiments), I’m shopping but I did very well my friends I did very well, 22 items from ELF for $24.95 (including shipping, they had a new deal). They have deals everyday, each new email has something juicy. So that’s coming I love there stuff, as I mentioned in my last post, I’ll show a pic of them.
I have in mind what I’m going to treat myself for my birthday, I have my eye on a couple of Coastal Scents palettes and a beauty on the go kit from Sigma Makeup (I saw this somewhere while I was browsing very late last night).
