I picked up a few things for my birthday from Sephora in late March. Mainly to claim the yearly birthday gift before the month ended. I haven’t shopped much at Sephora over the past two years since I discovered Ulta and the Dermstore.
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer – I love a glossy lip and wanted to try at least one Rhinna created product. This universal shade is so pretty and definitely work appropriate.

Kiehl’s Since 1851 Mini Mask Sampler Set – I have been eyeing the Kiehls mask individually for quite a while now but didn’t want to spend a lot for such large jars. This sampler set is perfect and each 0.5oz jar provides enough for a few routines. I just bought this last week of March and it is now no longer on the site.
Set includes Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque, Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Mask, Ginger Leaf & Hibiscus Firming Mask, Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask & Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Mask. The prices do vary from $32 to $54.

500 pt perk – Fresh Mini Mask Bar – Soy face cleanser, Umbrian clay purifying mask, Lotus youth preserve rescue mask and Rose face mask. Each mask retails for $25 – $58.

Consistency is key, we are on to day 2 on my 365 days of blogging until my 40 birthday. I had a quiet birthday and treated myself to items, see below.
I like Coach’s style, although not all the designs are my taste. The traditional simple black look of a Coach handbag is simply beautiful. I got the Large City Zip Tote in Black and I love it. It is the perfect size for work and all my needs. I also picked up East/West Pop Up Pouch Crossbody Bag with Bird Print. This was on a whim and I have received nothing but compliments on it.
This past Friday, I celebrated my birthday and set a goal to blog every day until my next birthday. Next year I will be 40 and my blog will be 9!!!! I am disbelief, I will have been on this earth for 4 decades.
So every day until then, I will post about something that reflects the nature of this blog, beauty & skincare. Even if it is one word. I found this easier than trying to do the 40 things before 40, that everyone else does. I don’t have 40 things I want to do before turning 40, I have a million. Over the coming year, I also plan to give this blog a much-needed facelift. A few years ago blogs were in danger of being obsolete given the emergence and popularity of vlogging on YouTube. Note to self I should find a reference for this. But I am seeing a return to blogging trend. I blame all the restrictions and analytics YouTube and Instagram have implemented.
I think this will be a fun challenge of sorts so let’s begin!!!
I treated myself really well this year for my birthday 🙂
From Fragrance.net – Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh and See by Chloe
Nordstrom – Elemis Tri-Enzyme ‘Resurfacing Radiance’ Collection
From Origins.com – Stocked up on my favorite hand lotion ‘Ginger’, a GinZing
Refreshing Eye Cream and lots of sample
From Sephora.com – A Jose Maran body butter tri, Sephora+Pantone Radiant
Orchid Blush/Luminizer palette see review here, Coach Poppy Blossom and some samples
I also bought two of the Muji large two drawer storage units, a Breville Juicer and I am still wait listed after a month and a half for the IT Cosmetics Vitality Face Disc and Jumbo Powder Brush set.
To celebrate the color of the year – Radiant Orchid, Sephora and Pantone have launched a blush and luminizer/highlighter palette. This was a part of my recent birthday haul.
L to R: Bridal Rose, Spanish Villa and Radiant Orchid
This is a gorgeous palette. The blush and luminizers are very finely milled and a little goes a very long way. Radiant Orchid will complement any skin tone, but one should be cautious as only the slightest tap of the brush is needed. It lasts 8+ hours, it applies smoothly and is very blendable.
The two luminizers Bridal Rose and Spanish Villa are gorgeous as well. I use them as highlighters since the concept of a luminizer is to lightly apply illuminating powder to the face. These are so finely milled and shimmerythat I find they work best accentuating the highpoints of the cheeks.
These are in an orchid ombre palette that is complete with a mirror. The only thing I do not like is that the pans are a bit smaller than their slots, are a bit crocked which I thin cheapens it a bit.
Retails for $26 at Sephora.com

Round 2 of the birthday haulage.
A Coach wristlet, not exactly one of the two that I wanted but I still love it. It’s small but big enough to hold my Samsung galaxy without any problems.
Nail polish etc. from my recent Ulta haul.
I got some tops from Eloquii, this is my second or third time buying their clothes and I love this online store. It is the plus size arm of the Limited but they recently announced that they maybe phasing it out. Why??!! I don’t know anyone who is not a size 0, should be able to buy great, fashionable, and figure flattering clothes too. I am very disappointed in them.
As part of my birthday celebration I visited the only ULTA within 50 miles of my home. Overall it was ok but I think I will shop online from now on. I went with my sister and picked up a few things.
My sister in front of store before going to Yankee candle and Starbucks!!!
I got a Sally Hansen Colorfast Tint + Moisture Balm in Spirited Spice; Ulta polishes in Bam-Blue-Zled , Indigo-Go Girl, Revlon Quick Dry top coat, Seche Restore, Maybelline Color Show Metallics in Amethyst Ablaze and Bold Gold; Essie Jamaica Me crazy.
Overall it was okay, the store layout was easy to navigate but the signage was all in the wrong places attached to wrong products. All in all I think online shopping is more for me.
It’s my birthday!!!!!!! To help me celebrate be sure to enter the giveaway (see side bar). So here is part one of my birthday hauls. I haven’t shopped all year so I really treated myself.
The Body Shop I am so in love with Pomegranate & Raspberry!!!! I got a burner and some burning oils. I also picked up one shadow from the new Color Crush line Brownie and Clyde (a gorgeous shimmery taupe)
From Sephora – Origins Ginger hand lotion, a retractable foundation brush, Illamasqua’s polish in Speckle, my bday Benefit gift and a 100 point product Anthony Logistics Instant Fix Oil Control (moisturizer for men- review to come)
Walgreens and Walmart – Essie’s Butler Please $8 (very pretty cobalt blue), Sally Hansen and two Milani glitters for $1.37 on clearance at Walgreen’s.

My post have been rather infrequent. I am shopping around for a better internet service provider as C@#$!@#T is a huge rip off. I am paying a fortune for only internet service, which in this day and age should be considered a basic utility (and it wasn’t even WiFi).
Anyway as the update continues, I have not purchased any makeup (no makeup, nail polish or beauty products) since January 1st. I know, you’re probably thinking I am crazy, but I already have so much makeup that I don’t’ know how I’ll get to use everything. So my plan for this year is to divide my makeup drawer into sections and use one section for an entire month or two. I’ll post pics in my next post on what I used for January and February. Then what ever I didn’t use gets gifted to someone. Now the dilemma my birthday is next month and despite all the collections that have been released I do not have the urge to buy anything but I feel I must because it is my birthday. Read to the end for a special announcement.
I want either one of these Coach phone case wristlets.
I want either the TopShop studded flat or the Tory Burch black flats. I lie I actually want them both.
I really want a Bond NYC No.9 fragrance. I heard NY for Her smells amazing….. I have to get to Sephora to get a whiff. Does anyone know how this smells?
I really want this too, Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom and Honey.
Even if I don’t get any of the others I will be getting this, I love, love Juicy Couture’s Viva La Juicy.
And to be able to afford any of these things I had to get two additional part time jobs because being a postdoc does not pay anything at all, and I have student loans to pay.
To celebrate my birthday with everyone I will be hosting a birthday giveaway starting January 1st. So stay tuned 🙂
