Clarins Multi-Blush in Rose [Review]

PhotoGrid_1460299305197_resized

Clarins Multi-Blush in Rose (no. 05). This is a natural, long-lasting blush for lips and cheek. It glides on with the ease of a cream that then transforms into a powder with the heat of one’s skin. Not sure how this powdery feature will work on the lips.
It moisturizes the skin with a blend of rose, mimosa and sunflower waxes. Also, has a ‘Light Optimizing’ complex that adds radiance. The blush is not quite the best as a blush for my skin tone but could be used with a light hand as a pink highlighter.

PRSampleDisclaimer: I received this product at a Clarins Spring 2016 press event at Bloomingdale’s. This does not influence my opinion and this review is based on my experience with the product.

Milani Limited Edition Rose Blushes – Swatches & Review

IMG_20150816_223455I almost missed out on these quietly released limited edition Milani Rose Blushes. No.09 American Beauty Rose, No.10 Awakening Rose and No.11 Blossomtime Rose. Each retails for $7.99 and are still available online

American Beauty Rose is described as a  true rose pink with a soft gold pearl; Awakening Rose – a dusty rose with iridescent pearl and Blossomtime Rose – a peachy pink with gold pearl. It’s hard to describe the ‘pearl’. It is not really shimmery or glittery (it’s too fine) as it is hardly noticable int he pan and definitely does not show up when applied to the cheeks.

These shades are very pretty although they come off very powdery/chalky while swatching and didn’t blend as well as previous Rose Blushes. However, when applied with a blush brush they blend beautifully and there is no powdery fall out.

Borghese Eclissare ColorRise Blush in Flight

IMG_20150831_230845Swatches top with flash & bottom without flash

This is the Borghese Eclissare ColorRise blush in Flight which is a deep bronze blush with gold shimmer. This blush is quite pretty and comes off more as a deep warm rose on my skin tone than a bronze would on lighter skin tones. The gold shimmer is not as evident once applied with a brush, which is more visible in swatches. The packaging is sleek and slim. It is sturdy embossed cardboard with a magnectic lid and decent size mirror.

The blushes in this line are described as wearable, neutral shades that are perfect for any skin tone. Comprised of pure pigments for an even distribution and a more natural glow. The color glides on smoothly, perfectly providing a flawless finish and can be used to sculpt, contour and define cheekbones. Flight (1.0 oz) retails for $30.00.

August Favorite – My Blush Palettes {Shopping My Stash}

IMG_20150905_214426

I enjoyed all my Tarte, La Femme and Coastal Scents blushes in the month of August. I think these new MAC palettes are the best on the market and great value for money. Eight dollars per palette and although it is not magnetic that can be easily solved by using stick on magnets from Walmart, ebay, Amazon or Michaels.

I depotted all my Tarte blushes except one from a palette. Tarte blushes are super easy to depot, pigmented and long lasting. All one needs is a pin. The La Femme blushes are another great value for money, roughly $3.50/blush. These blushes have been extensively reviewed and are super pigmented. The Coastal Scents palette is the largest pre-made palette I own.

I LOVE BLUSH!!!!!!!!!!!

Sephora + Pantone Universe ‘Color of the Year’ – Marsala [review & swatches]

I’ve had this post in my draft folder since March and I figured it was time to post it. This is the second year that I picked up the Color of the Year blush/highlighter palette. This year Sephora and Pantone teamed up and released ‘Marsala’. Marsala is described as  “A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our minds, bodies and souls”.  Marsala is an absolutely gorgeous color for a blush. Sephora has curated a collection of ‘Marsala’ inspired/themed products which is still up online here

Marsala Cheek trio: Spanish Villa (2.9g), Coral Pink (2.9g) and Marsala (4.8g).

Once again another gorgeous palette. You can see my thoughts on last year’s Radiant Orchid palette. The blush and luminizers are very finely milled and a little goes a very long way. I think Marsala is perfect for every skin tone, anytime of the year. As with last year’s release this palette should be used with a delicate hand  as only the slightest tap of the brush is needed. It lasts 8+ hours, it applies smoothly and is very blendable. This year’s palette only has one repeat highlighter “Spanish Villa’. I really wished they had not repeated this shade and actually made an effort to be unique.  Unfortunately, this palette was limited edition and is no longer available but retailed for $26. I can’t wait to see that next year’s color will be.

July Favorites – Milani, Laura Gellar & Coastal Scents Blushes

At the start of the summer I decided to ‘Shop My Stash’ and give the blushes in my collection so love and actually use them. I have quite a large collection of blushes, well for one person but hey there are 365 days in a year.

I keep my blushes in these little baskets so its easy to pick one and use ts contents. This month I gave some love to the Milani Cosmetics and Laura Gellar baked blushes in my collection as well as a few Coastal Scents Forever blushes (all purchased by me). I also used the Borghese color Eclipse ColorRise blush in Stunner. Some days I used single ones, other days I mixed and some I used as highlighters (a few of the Milani ones are perfect as highlighters).

I have previously swatched and reviewed the Milani blushes here, here, here and here. The only one I have not swatched is No. 11. The Coastal Scents Forever blushes I have swatched here.

I will swatch the Laura Gellar baked blushes in the future, so check back for that post.

Color Pop Blush Haul/Swatches/Review

20150510_183006~2[1]20150510_183949~2[1]20150510_184058~2[1]So I finally deceided to succumb to the hype and order a few of the ColorPop Super Shock Cheek Blushes. I only got two Early Bird and Bonus. Each retails for $8 and weighs 4.2g or 0.15 oz.

Early Bird is a bright red coral with a matte finish while Bonus is described as a true – tone peach matte blush.

20150510_184137~2[1]20150510_184256~2[1]

It is suggested to use ones fingertips to provide the highest amount of coverage. In addition to this the site recommends they type of brushes to use e.g. a flat synthetic cheek/ foundation brush or a short duo fiber brush. The flat synthetic brush will give more coverage while the duo fiber brush would give a more sheer, air brushed effect.

My thoughts– I did not like these blushes and I think they are actually more of a cream to powder than true matte blushes. I am not a fan of cream blushes. Whilst they swatches magnificently and the colors are gorgeous they did not deposit well on the cheeks. I applied as suggested by the company but was not impressed and even tried to apply directly with each of the above mentioned blushes. Nothing.

ColorPop blushes are cruelty free and are made in the USA and they provide free shipping on orders over $30.

Tarte Chic to Cheek Amazonian clay blush set – Review

PhotoGrid_1418585509593Dance “chic to cheek” with this delightful, 4-piece set of best-selling, long-wearing blushes infused with skin-balancing Amazonian clay. The heavenly, limited-edition shades deliver up to 12 hours of fade-free, flawless wear, even as you’re up in the clouds, dancing the night away. This romantically designed set also comes in gorgeous gift box packaging and is ideal for any blush enthusiast on your gift list. Includes 4 deluxe, limited-edition blushes. Description courtesy of Macys.com

  • amour (candy pink)
  • classic (soft apricot pink)
  • daydream (rosy pink)
  • prim (plum nude)

I picked up this set of travel size blushes from a holiday sale on Tarte last year. I love all four blushes and they work well and compliment my skin tone perfectly. My favorite is a toss up between Daydream and Classic. As with  the Tarte full -size  Amazonian clay 12-hour blushes these smaller versions are just as good. hey are long wearing, extremely soft and blendable. Tarte’s Amazonian clay minimizes oil and pores  in order to balance skin, reduces the appearance of dry flaky skin, restores moisture while naturally hydrating the skin and keeps products in place (well at least for 12 hours). I am a big fan of Tarte blushes and I think sets like these are a great value for money.
